Real Madrid may miss out Manchester United star David De Gea because of Cristiano Ronaldo

REAL MADRID are on course to miss out on Manchester United star David De Gea because of Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports.

Real Madrid remain keen on Manchester United star De Gea despite failing to prise him away from Old Trafford on deadline day in 2015.

Los Blancos are set to wave goodbye to Keylor Navas in the summer, while current No2 Kiko Casilla is being tipped to leave for Newcastle next month.

As a result, Manchester United star De Gea is being mooted as their next No1.

However, Spanish website Diario Gol say Los Blancos could actually miss out on their long-term target because of club talisman Ronaldo.

All is not well with the Portugal international over at the Bernabeu.
Though he has recently rediscovered his goalscoring touch after a difficult start to the season, the 32-year-old remains hellbent on leaving the club.

Ronaldo was determined to call time on his Real Madrid career back in the summer after being accused of tax evasion by the authorities.

And, though he ultimately ended up staying put, it appears he is yet to change his mind.

Ronaldo may, however, end up staying if he is given the same wages as Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and PSG’s Neymar.

And Diario Gol say, because he shares an agent with De Gea in Jorge Mendes, that could prove pivotal.

If Madrid fail to bow to their star man’s demands then Mendes may negotiate another improved deal with United instead.

Already, the super agent has supposedly told Los Blancos that De Gea deserves a salary worth over £10million a year.

Meanwhile, former goalkeeper Shay Given thinks De Gea would become Real’s first Galactico goalkeeper if he were to return to Spain.

“I’ll be surprised if Real Madrid are not back in for De Gea,” he said.

“They talk about Galacticos at Madrid and he can be the first Galactico goalkeeper.

“Man United fans reading this will be ripping up the paper. He is that good a goalkeeper and it would be really bad if United lost him.
“But his partner is from Spain, there’s family there – there’s more than just football to consider.

“Would United winning the Champions League this season keep him happy? To do that they would have to get past Manchester City, who are so strong.

“It’s early in the season but City are odds-on favourites to win the Premier League title. They talk about teams having blips. What is City’s? It seems to be winning games only 2-1.

“They are like the United teams of old. As an ex-City player it’s great for me to see them playing so well.”
