General Legal Council suspends 2 lawyers for 2 years

The General Legal Council (GLC) has suspended lawyers Charles Owusu Juanah and Kwame Amoako from legal practice for a period of two years each commencing from 24 November 2017.

The two lawyers were charged with three counts under Rule 9 (4) of the Legal Profession (Professional Conduct and Etiquette) Rules, 1969 L.I. 613. They are from the Chambers.

The letter of which Accra100.5 FM has a copy, indicated that Charles Owusu Juanah, as Head of Chambers and lawyer at K-SAN Law Firm, filed a Notice of Change of Solicitors and issued a writ on behalf of KASAPA Ltd without due consent and instructions from the said KASAPA Ltd and also in another suit failed to seek the prior consent of the solicitor on record, Messrs Bentsi Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah before appearing on behalf of KASAPA Ltd in a pending case.

It indicated that both have been duly notified, but failed to appear before the Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council on 9 June, 2016.

During the period of suspension, they shall not hold themselves out as Legal Practitioners or attend Chambers, or render, or purport to render any professional legal services to the public for a fee.

The licences of Mr Owusu Juanah and Mr Amoako for the next two (2) years have been withdrawn forthwith.
