Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos at war: Zinedine Zidane speaks about Real Madrid crisis

ZINEDINE ZIDANE says he’s not affected by the dressing room war between Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos.

Their relationship between the pair has turned sour after Ronaldo slammed the ‘weakening’ of the Real squad following the exits of Alvaro Morata, Pepe and James Rodriguez.

Ramos didn’t take kindly to such comments and said: “I don’t agree with him that the squad is weaker, it seems to be an opportunistic opinion.

“Nobody thought that when we won the Super Cups. We aren’t missing anyone, we have won everything with the players that are here now.

“The squad has changed, but some players contribute some things and others contribute other things.”

Zidane was questioned about the rift today and did his best to play down tensions.

He insisted the pair “respect each other a lot” but admitted the pair have their disagreements.

Zidane said: “It isn’t something which is affecting us, we know that there is a lot of noise around this club, a lot can happen and a lot can be said.

“We are calm because we’re only focused on what matters and that is playing football.

“They are very smart guys and they can say whatever they want.

“They have been together for many years and have won a lot together.

“One might say one thing and the other can say something else but that is for you, we are calm about it.

“There’s no problem between them. All I can say is that I have two players who are a big part of the history of the club, both know what it means and who respect each other a lot.”

Real take on Saturday’s clash with Atletico Madrid on Saturday and Zidane confirmed Luka Modric and Dani Carvajal are both fit to play.

He added: “We want to win and we will be doing our upmost to try to do that but the opposition will do the same.

“Both teams are on the same number of points so neither are better or worse at the moment.

“We know the importance of this game and will be doing our best.”

Real sit above Atletico on goal difference alone, with both sides trailing leaders Barcelona by eight points heading into the weekend.

Los Rojiblancos are unbeaten in 11 matches in LaLiga so far this season.

Their coach Diego Simeone has included Koke in his squad following a thigh injury while Yannick Carrasco and Filipe Luis are doubts.
