Ex-Manchester United Player Reveals Why Jose Mourinho Should Stay Away From Mesut Ozil

Strolling carelessly into the last months of his contract, Mesut Ozil has reportedly told his Arsenal teammates that he’s set to sign for Manchester United on a free.

The German midfielder and World Cup winner would reunite with former boss Jose Mourinho, who managed (and sold him) at Real Madrid.

But as one of the only players to swap between the clubs in recent(-ish) years, former United defender Mikael Silvestre has a few things to say about the potential transfer.

Unkind things.

The 40-year-old Frenchman believes that Ozil doesn’t possess the right spirit to truly get involved in Jose Mourinho’s hard-working system, and thinks the Portuguese should opt for someone else.

“I think he would have to change his attitude,” he told beIN sports.

“I think it’s mainly when the team loses the ball. The first few seconds in reaction, that’s when the coaches want you to get up and try to recover as quickly as possible, be that man to block and try to stop your opponent. And his transitions sometimes, he looks like, ‘okay we lost the ball now and I’ve got to run back now because I’m Arsenal’, but sometimes it doesn’t look like he is interested. So, at United he wouldn’t last long – especially with Jose. If you put players into categories, I would put him in the with Mkhitaryan and Mata, so you already have two players like this – technical, good vision, proper playmakers. So why would you sign another? You don’t need to pile these types of players.”

Mikael Silvestre has spoken. Sorry Mesut, but there’s no recovering from that.
