Anthony Martial: Man Utd star rejected Inter as he wants England stay – Tancredi Palmeri

MANCHESTER UNITED striker Anthony Martial rejected Inter Milan because he wants to stay in the Premier League, according to journalist Tancredi Palmeri.
Martial struggled at Manchester United last season, managing just eight goals after Jose Mourinho succeeded Louis van Gaal in the Old Trafford hotseat.

He has been linked with a move to both Inter Milan and Tottenham and Italian journalist Tancredi has hinted he would prefer the latter.

Following United’s decision to prioritise the signing of a winger this summer, the France international’s future is uncertain.

Tottenham and Serie A giants Inter Milan are both supposedly determined to lure him away from Mourinho’s side ahead of the transfer deadline on August 31.

And, in news that will no doubt alert Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs, Palmeri says Martial’s preference is to remain in England.
“Martial has for now rejected the option,” he said on Twitter referring to Inter Milan.

“Prefer possibly remain in Premier.”

Martial was being tipped to join Inter in a move that would see Ivan Perisic join United.

And it emerged in France this week that United had rejected a bid from Tottenham.

But former France international Emmanuel Petit thinks he should fight to remain at Mourinho’s side.

“Manchester United, they are building a team to play for the title this year,” he said.
“They will play the Champions League, he (Martial) will have playing time and the competitions will be long until the end of the year,” Petit told SFR Sport.

“So going to Inter which is under reconstruction, there are a lot of uncertainties at this level there.

“It’s a risk to take but I think he has the qualities to claim to play more at Manchester United.

“Whether it is on the left side or even in the centre, he has already shown that he has the instinct of the scorer.”

Martial got his campaign off to a flier by finding the net in United’s 4-0 thumping of West Ham on Sunday.

Romelu Lukaku scored twice and Paul Pogba also got on the scoresheet.
