Tottenham plot late double deal for Simeone and Meyer

TOTTENHAM are gearing up for a late spending spree this summer with two players on Mauricio Pochettino’s radar.
Tottenham are yet to sign anyone in the transfer window – the only Premier League club not to hand entered the market.

Pochettino is focused on developing his current squad as Spurs seek to save funds to help pay off their new stadium.

They do have cash, however, after felling Kyle Walker to Manchester City for £50million.

And the Mirror claim the north London club are set to dip into the market before the month is out.

According to the report, Spurs want to sign Genoa forward Giovanni Simeone, who is the son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego.

Simeone scored 12 goals in 35 Serie A appearances for Genoa last season and has Crystal Palace, Torino and Fiorentina tracking him.

Meanwhile, Spurs are also upping their pursuit of Schalke’s Max Meyer – having had an approach rejected last year.
Pochettino remains interested in Meyer, who is into the last 12 months of his contract at the Bundesliga club.
Spurs could supposedly pick him up for £30m this summer, although that fee could drop before the window closes as Schalke don’t want to lose him on a free transfer at the end of the season.
