Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho takes swipe at Louis van Gaal when asked about legacy

JOSE MOURINHO has taken a swipe at Louis van Gaal when asked about what legacy he’d like to leave behind at Manchester United.
Mourinho was asked about his successor and what he hopes to leave him when his time comes to an end at Old Trafford.

And the Portuguese boss certainly hopes to leave the club in a better condition than the one he inherited from Van Gaal.

He said: “I would like next manager to find a much, much better club and team than one I found at every level.”

Mourinho arrived at Manchester United last summer and inherited an FA Cup winning squad.
But previous manager Van Gaal struggled in the league and failed to secure them Champions League football leaving Mourinho to battle his way through the Europa League.

Van Gaal was criticised for his dull playing style and lack of attacking football, while some of his transfer decisions were also questioned by supporters.

And Mourinho has previously questioned some of the decisions Van Gaal and former boss David Moyes made.

“I found a sad club [here],” Mourinho said back in March.
“Man Utd sold players that I would never sell, bought players that I would never buy.
“I would never sell Di Maria, Chicharito [Hernandez], Danny Welbeck. Never. No chance.”

Mourinho has got the players he wanted so far in this transfer window with Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof joining.

However, he has bee left frustrated in his pursuits of Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic, Tottenham’s Eric Dier and Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic.
