Leander Dendoncker to Man Utd: Anderlecht star is a transfer alternative – report

MANCHESTER UNITED are monitoring Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker, according to reports.
Manchester United are aiming to tie up transfer deals as the new Premier League season edges closer.

The Red Devils acted swiftly to sign Victor Lindelof from Benfica last month, with the Sweden international moving to Old Trafford six months after interest was first shown.

They then added Romelu Lukaku to their ranks last week, splashing £75million on the Belgium international to make him their new No9 after the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

However, despite already spending close to £100m, Jose Mourinho is determined to lure more players to the Theatre of Dreams.
Tottenham and Roma stars Eric Dier and Radja Nainggolan are on their radar, as well as Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic.

But the Daily Mail claim Anderlecht star Dendoncker is also being considered by the club should their moves for Dier and Nainggolan fail.

It is said the United manager was left impressed by the 22-year-old’s performances when the two teams met in the Europa League last season.

The Red Devils drew the first leg 1-1 in Belgium, with Dendoncker scoring a late header after Henrikh Mkhitaryan had given the English side a first-half lead.
The midfielder also played the full 120 minutes in the second leg, where United only just made it through courtesy of Marcus Rashford’s dramatic winner.

United want a holding midfielder to help coax the best out of Paul Pogba, who struggled after returning from Juventus last August.

However, whether or not Anderlecht let another player go remains to be seen.

Rene Weiler’s side have already lost 20-year-old star Youri Tielemans to Monaco in a £21.6m deal.
