Man Utd could still sign Alvaro Morata this summer: Jose Mourinho unhappy with strikers

JOSE MOURINHO could revive his interest in Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata – despite the deal appearing dead last week.
Manchester United have stunned the footballing world by agreeing a £75million deal with Everton for Romelu Lukaku, stealing him from under the nose of Chelsea.

The big Belgian is set to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Old Trafford and will take on the goalscoring burden.

Wayne Rooney has moved in the opposite direction leaving United short of strikers.

Mourinho was happy to let Rooney go as – despite having much respect for the striker – he felt his best days were behind him.

But Mourinho still thinks his attacking options are not good enough and could even revive his interest in Morata.

United are not expected to offer Ibrahimovic a shock return to Old Trafford – despite reports to the contrary.
Ibrahimovic has left Manchester United as a free agent after a serious knee injury ruled him out of action until January 2018.

The Swedish international had the option of an extra season, but Red Devils bosses decided not to trigger the deal.

He went to America to undergo surgery on his damaged knee ligaments before returning to Manchester to start his rehabilitation.

Old Trafford bosses have allowed Ibrahimovic to continue his recovery at their Carrington training base.

It has led to speculation that Ibrahimovic could be offered a short term deal once he proves his fitness in the new year but Express Sport understands this is unlikely to happen.
