C/R: One dead in Tidal waves disaster

One person has been left dead after tidal waves ravaged some fishing communities in Ankaful, Saltpond and Cape Coast in the Central region.
The residents in the three fishing communities had their community submerged in the early hours of Sunday.
The deceased was among three fishermen who wanted to swim ashore to escape the havoc that the tidal wave was wrecking in the area but their canoe capsized.

The residents blame the disaster on the continuous sand winning activities along the beaches in the area.
Aside many households which were displaced by the tidal waves, fishing vessels were also destroyed in the process leaving the fisher folks perplexed as to how they can get back to business.
They are therefore calling on government to provide them with relieve items while helping them to get their economic activities back on track as over 20 canoes and fishing equipment including nets were completely destroyed in the process .
