EIB Network, GAF hold vigil for Major Mahama

The Excellence in Broadcasting (EIB) Network and the Ghana Armed Forces are holding a joint vigil Thursday for the late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama.
The vigil which kicks off 7pm to 11pm comes off at the Arakan Mess (Burma Camp) Thursday June 8, 2017.
The hierarchy of the military service and government officials will be in attendance. Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale and gospel musician SP Kofi Sarpong will also honour the event.
Speaking on the Morning Show Wednesday, the father of the late soldier Captain Dennis Mahama noted the family will grace the occasion and entreated all to attend in honour of “our son.”
“Friends and colleagues have all promised to come and it’s part of a way to mourn him,” Capt. Mahama told host Francis Abban.

He added: “The vigil will be used as a sober reflection over his life and pray for the country. Never again should such a thing happen in this country and no human being should suffer this calamity.”
Capt. Mahama expressed gratitude to President Nana Akufo-Addo for promoting posthumously his son to the rank of a Major. He said “the family received it with maximum gratitude… promotion to Major takes him higher than where I ended and that is of much pleasure.”
Major Mahama will be given a State Burial on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra.
The 32-year-old military commander was lynched at Denkyera-Boase during an early morning jogging by locals who suspected he was an armed robber after sighting a sidearm on him. Forty-two persons have since been arrested over the nefarious act and are standing trial for murder and attempt to commit murder.
