JB’s ‘killers’ will be rearrested; they are not free – AG

Attorney General and Minister of Justice Gloria Akuffo has said the two suspects (Daniel Asiedu and Vincent Bossu) who were discharged by an Accra High Court on Tuesday 30 May after her office filed a case of nolle prosequi in the case regarding the murder of late Abuakwa North MP JB Danquah-Adu are not free at all.

“We have reviewed the docket and we have come to the conclusion that there are aspects of the matter that require further investigation and when the matter is being heard, you cannot conduct further investigation, so out of necessity you have to discontinue to enable you conduct those investigations. So that is why we entered the nolle prosequi so they are not walking at all,” Ms Akuffo told Accra-based Joy FM on Tuesday shortly after the two were discharged.

She said: “They would be apprehended and investigations will be reopened.”

On 9 February 2016, some unknown assailants murdered Mr Danquah-Adu in his room at his Shiashie residence.

Daniel Asiedu and Vincent Bossu were facing murder charges at the court but had pleaded not guilty to the charge.

It would be recalled Abuakwa North MP Gifty Twum Ampofo asked Ghana’s parliament to demand fresh investigations into the gruesome murder of her predecessor.

Speaking on the floor of parliament on Thursday February 9 as part of the one-year anniversary of the killing of the former legislator, she said: “The house should immediately reengage the police and the house should demand fresh investigations into the matter.”

Meanwhile, the family of the late MP is also demanding justice from the Akufo-Addo-led government.
