Ibrahim Mahama owes Ghana Airport Company GHC8 million?

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Ibrahim Mahama, the brother of former president John Mahama, owes the Ghana Airport Company over GHC8 million in aviation fuel costs and taxes.

The reports come days after Ibrahim settled a GHC12 million debt to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

He last week signed two cheques to clear the debt, which had given bad press and provoked an EOCO investigation into his conduct.

The latest rumour that Ibrahim owes a further GHC8 million in aviation fuel costs and taxes has already sparked criticisms for him on social media.

It has prompted assertions by some members of the social media community that Ibrahim took undue advantage of his brother’s presidency to defraud the state.

Ibrahim is known to own an American made private jet and if the rumours are true, the debt could have been racked up by his use of the aircraft.

A businessman, Ibrahim has five companies.

They are: Engineers and Planners, Arcelor Mittal Sierra Leone and Liberia, Asutsuare Poultry Farm, MBG Ltd, and Real Estate Company.
