“GIS CAN NEVER SCORE US ON FAIR GROUNDS” : GHANA VOLLEYBALL WARRIORS

Congratulations Warriors Volleyball Club, indeed, you are making University of Ghana proud.
I am actually overwhelmed by your performance last Friday, 9th September, 2016 at the Veterans games held at the stadium after that long break off in active Volleyball.
Volleyball is not always about Strength as people often and erroneously assume, but, rather the use of the cognitive abilities which is paramount in the amazing game ( call it intellectual Volleyball ).
The game started well, we disciplined the Navy team by 2-1 in best of 3 sets, proceeded to meet GIS, punished them 25-15 in the first set, and later lost to them 26 -24 in the second set as REFEREE ABRAHAM won the third set for them.
“We have now come to realise why they run away from the league match when they are to meet us”.
How can you give an excuse that, 2, I mean two, “T W O of your players are not feeling well, so you cannot honour a match” ?
These days, the right exclamation is “Like Seriously!”.
I don’t blame them that much because they have an association that backs them, rain or shine, good or bad, perhaps.
Meanwhile, we are always hoping Volleyball will develop in the country, but how can this be possible when some teams are treated unfairly?
Will the development of the game we hope happen overnight with such unscrupulous practices? bhim! just like that, or must we work for it? Of course we must all work for it! But why should some be favoured in the expense of others? Favouritism must be abolished in the Ghana Volleyball Games.

But then, these referees, with their jaundiced biased judgement keep discouraging us especially the. It is very hard for a young team such as ours, in which we contribute our personal money for registration, without a coach, to feel hopeful about the game after such treatments. We feel helpless when such treatments are given to us. We find it very painful and disappointing when having trained, attend a competition and then we end up being molested out through a rape of the rules.
But our spirit and love for the game is not dampened.
We are never moved by the actions and unfair decisions of Ghana Volleyball Referees, we are rather moved by the passion we have for the game, and the future we hope to see Ghana Volleyball attain.
Just as Martin Luther King Jnr said ” Let us not wallow in the Valley of despair and even though we face difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream…” so in a similar vein do we (UG WARRIORS_VBC ) have a dream for Ghana VOLLEYBALL.
We have a dream that one day, this injustice that is all around Ghana Volleyball will stop.
We have a dream that “one day one day” and soon too, Ghana VOLLEYBALL will be up there and will attract more people.
We have a dream that one day, Ghana VOLLEYBALL Referees will stop taking civilian teams for granted, and will learn to improve themselves and remain neutral as it’s expected of them to make our game more competitive, more meaningful and more entertaining.
We have a dream that one day and soon, the unnecessary “fickle politics” around Ghana VOLLEYBALL that is killing the game will stop, and players will not be taken for granted.
We have a dream that qualified leaders who can speak for the team and help promote volleyball in Ghana and beyond will arise to help the Association.
If the truth doesn’t tilt, but is able to stand on its feet, and referees remain fair to all, then we are the team to beat!
