EOCO investigates Ibrahim Mahama

EOCO investigates Ibrahim Mahama

The Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) has opened formal investigations into activities of Ibrahim Mahama, a brother to former President John Mahama.

Ibrahim Mahama, who heads Engineers and Planners was on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, picked up by EOCO after it emerged that he had issued dud cheques to the Customs Unit of the Ghana Revenue Authority.

He was reportedly interrogated for over eight hours by investigators but was later released.

Joy News sources say he has been required to report regularly to EOCO as investigations continue.

However, this is not the first time EOCO has moved to investigate former President Mahama’s brother.

In February, Ibrahim Mahama and a close associate of the former National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, Ali Seidu, were hauled before EOCO over the corruption scandal that hit the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).

The two businessmen were summoned over the probe surrounding the ousted CEO of the COCOBOD, Dr. Stephen Kwabena Opuni.

EOCO’s initial investigations are suspected to have fingered the duo in the massive deals at the body managing cocoa transactions in Ghana leading to their invitation.

Ibrahim Mahama was contracted under the erstwhile NDC government to execute various projects, notable among them being the construction of a field to house the AMERI power plant.
