Prof. Bondzi-Simpson takes over 1st Public Lecture of Commonwealth Hall @60

Professor Philip Ebow Bondzi-Simpson,  Rector of GIMPA, a Professor of Law and Founding Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Cape Coast, will on 20th April 2017 handle a public Lectures on the topic: “Commonwealth Hall: Reflections on Branding and Culture”.

The program which forms part of the launch of the 60years Anniversary of Commonwealth Hall, on a main theme “60 Years of Vandalism: The Next Chapter”, will host members of the Old Vandals, Current Vandals and General Public at 4pm at the Commonwealth Hall Dinning Hall.

Dr. Kwame Anoff-Ntow, Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) will be Chairing the 1st Public Lecture. Dr. Akuffo Anoff-Ntow has close to two decades of professional experience in broadcasting as both a practitioner and scholar.

Brief Information about the Guest Speaker

Prof. Bondzi-Simpson is the Rector of GIMPA, a member of the Board of Directors, Judicial Training Institute, Judicial Service of the Republic of Ghana; Chairman, Continuing Legal Education and Professional Development Committee, Ghana Bar Association; and a former lecturer at Ghana School of Law/Board of Legal Education of the General Legal Counsel of the Republic of Ghana.




Apart from various visiting and adjunct lectureship positions in Ghana and abroad, he is a former Dean of Business at the University of Cape Coast.

Prof. Bondzi-Simpson obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from the University of Ghana, Legon in 1984. He continued to the Ghana School of Law between 1984 and 1986. Prof. Bondzi-Simpson further pursued a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Saskatchewan, Canada from 1986 to 87. He studied at the University of Toronto between 1987 and 1990, where he obtained the Doctor of Juridical Sciences degree (SJD). In 2011, he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from the University of Cape Coast.

Meanwhile, the 2nd Public Lecture – 27th April 2017 and 3rd Public Lecture – 11th May 2017, with Guest Speakers; Hon. Ekow Spio Gabrah and Anas Aremeyaw Anas respectively which forms the yearlong celebration of Commonwealth Hall 60 years Anniversary. The Climax of the program is the “HOMECOMING” between 30th June to 3rd July 2017.

In addition, between 6th May to 17 June there will be a series of Sports and Indoor Game (Selected Saturdays). Nonetheless, on 24th June 2017 the alumni (Old Vandals Association) will be donating to the it’s Adopted Institution; Mampong School for the Deaf, Akropong School for the Blind and Mother Teresa School for Girls.
