GJA condemns ‘barbaric’ attack on EIB Journalist

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has condemned an attack on GhOne journalist Ridwan Karim Dini Osman who was assaulted in the discharge of his duties.

Mr Osman, while covering a fire outbreak at Ashfoam in the North Industrial Area in Accra on Monday night was slapped several times from behind for forcing  his way to cover the incident after he was prevented from entering the building,  which had caught fire.

GJA President Roland Affail Monney, who visited him in hospital, where he was rushed  for treatment, described the attack as “unwarranted and barbaric” and vowed to seek justice for the journalist.

“I visited our brother and colleague Ridwan Karim Dini Osman at the Police Hospital. He was assaulted yesterday in the line of duty. I’d like to state unequivocally that the GJA will not countenance any journalist being harassed or assaulted whilst performing his or her duties. We shall get to the bottom of this unwarranted and barbaric act and seek justice for Ridwan,” he stated in a Facebook post.
